Prompt Fulfilled:

Stars:

3.5-4/5

Synopsis:

In a country where your horoscope determines who you are in society, Princess Maya is an outcast as she's destined to a marriage full of death and despair. When her father chooses to marry her off in order to build alliances between war-torn nations, Maya suddenly finds herself to be the wife of Amar and the queen of Akaran. While her life in her new kingdom is much better than before, and she can't help falling in love with her king, things in Akaran aren't exactly what they seem. Voices call out her, voices that only she can hear, and Maya can't help thinking that maybe she's been here before...

Thoughts:

- Each sentence was so delicately crafted that I thought it belonged it a poem instead of a YA novel.

- Since I had "read" this on an audiobook, I was confused whenever there was a flashback.

- Author could have split it into two books to have a more complete ending.

Recommendations:

Readers that:

- enjoy mild romance

- enjoy reading about the afterlife in various cultures

- enjoy reading about mystical powers
