Prompt Fulfilled:
A book inspired by mythology, legend or folklore.
Stars:
4.5/5 stars

Synopsis:
Aru Shah cannot seem to catch a break. First, she ends up not going on her promised vacation and then her classmates find out and start teasing her about it which leads to her accidentally awakening an ancient Hindu demon called the "Sleeper."
Now Aru must team up with a sassy pigeon and her Pandava sister (a whole another story!) to retrieve the godly weapons that will help put the "Sleeper" to bed for good, but along the way she makes friends (for the first time in forever!), uncovers life-changing secrets had hidden from her and realizes that her white lies have more power than she realized.
Thoughts:
- Even though it's by a completely different author, this book had the feel of one of Rick Riordan's many mythological sagas (although it makes sense, since the entire "Aru Shah" series is part of Read Riordan).
- I loved the wit and humour so much! The dialogue between many (if not all) of the characters kept me very entertained.
- A specific part near the end had me very intrigued, and now I'm very excited to read the upcoming novels.
Recommendations:
For readers who:
- enjoyed Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase etc.
- would like to read about Hindu mythology
- enjoy humour with a serious plot
